FAQ
How do I redact a PDF?
Open Redact and choose a PDF. Drag on the page to draw black boxes, or switch to Find text to box every match in the whole document. Review each page, then press Save PDF and download.
What happens to the pages I redact?
Redact turns pages you mark into page images and burns black boxes into those images so the underlying text of the redacted regions is not kept as text. Pages you do not mark are copied through and can still have selectable text. File metadata and attachments are stripped from the download. Review the preview carefully — only the regions you mark are redacted.
Can I still select text after redacting?
On pages you redacted, no: those pages become images. On pages you did not mark, yes: they are copied through as they were.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Your PDF is opened, redacted and saved on your device. It is never uploaded.
Can I use password-protected PDFs?
Yes. Fix PDF asks for the password and uses it only on your device. It is never saved or sent anywhere.
What makes Fix PDF different from other PDF websites?
Fix PDF is free to use with no watermarks or paywall, and your files never leave your browser. Use is unlimited.
