FAQ

What makes FixPDF different from other PDF websites?

FixPDF is free to use with no watermarks or paywall, and your files never leave your browser. Use is unlimited.

When compressing, how much smaller could my PDF get?

It depends on the file. Images are re-saved as JPEG and, by default, scaled down to 125 dpi. Pick Smallest (36 dpi) for an even smaller file, or Full size to keep image resolution as it is. If a file can't get smaller, you keep your original.

What do Remove hidden metadata and Remove accessibility tags do?

Remove hidden metadata (on by default) removes most of the hidden metadata stored with the pages, images, fonts and other parts of the PDF, and keeps the document’s own details such as its title and author. Remove accessibility tags drops the structure screen readers use, which saves space but makes the PDF harder to use with assistive tech.

What metadata is removed?

Remove hidden metadata removes the XMP metadata attached to pages, images, fonts, forms and other parts of the PDF, which often holds editing history and app or camera details. The document’s title, author, subject, keywords, creator app, producer, and created and modified dates are kept, and so is the document-level XMP.

Are my files uploaded?

Files are processed on your device, and the PDFs you pick are read and written on your device only.

Can I use password-protected PDFs?

Yes. FixPDF asks for the password and uses it only on your device. It is never saved or sent anywhere.
